Essence Fest’s Imperfections
Humidity:
Every place is hot by 4th of July weekend but few combine high temperatures with intense humidity – ridiculously high heat index. Keep it simple. Ladies we hear they charge a huge Essence Fest mark up to fix a hair gone wrong. Fellas its mad hot so even those polo’s may be too much – don’t forget some type of sweat towel/rag.
Smell:
This applies to Bourbon Street. Due to the insistence of the police to provide surveillance/security while on horses we have some odor issues which gets worse through out the day and can be just be awful by late night. You get use to it after a while and it barely hampers your experience but it definitely should be noted for 1st timers.
Watch your feet:
This also applies to Bourbon Street. What causes the smell is let say “debris” from the Horses. This mess stays on the street until the street cleaned the next morning. Therefore, while walking up and down Bourbon always look down to make sure you don’t step in a mess.
No Beaches:
There are no beaches so if you can’t make do with the pools available at various hotels then you will be out of luck.
